How do braces straighten crooked teeth?

Braces use constant, gentle pressure, which over time, move teeth into their proper positions. Your braces are at work every moment of your orthodontic treatment. The two main components of your braces are: the brackets that are placed on your teeth and the main archwire that connects them. The archwire is shaped to create your new smile.

Different Types of Braces

Dr. Newton uses several types of braces. The metal ones Dr. Newton uses are low friction, with built in clips to hold the archwire and they are designed to move teeth as gently and quickly as possible. (Check out Damon Braces online). We also have ceramic brackets for patients who would like their orthodontic treatment to be less obvious. Our most aesthetic and comfortable appliance to align teeth is Invisalign. (Dr. Newton is an Invisalign Premier Provider). For patients that are not Invisalign candidates Dr. Newton also offers braces that are placed on the tongue side of the teeth (lingual surface) which are also not visible when you smile. (Ibraces/Incognito) There are obviously several different ways to reach your goal of a new smile.
